It went a little something like this: rumors swirled that Netflix would drop “Black Mirror” on Black Friday over the Thanksgiving holiday break. It didn’t happen, but trailers for each episode in season four started arriving. That’s right, “Black Mirror” features six episodes this year, some from directors like John Hillcoat, Jodie Foster and Tim Van Patten (“Game Of Thrones,” “The Wire“) and each one is getting a promo.
Today it’s “Black Museum” directed by Colm McCarthy (“Peaky Binders“) and starring Douglas Hodge (“The Night Manager,” “Catastrophe“), Letitia Wright (“Humans,” “Ready Player One“), Babs Olusanmokun (“Roots,” “The Defenders“). Series creator Charlie Brooker wrote every episode this season, and it looks like he’s keeping his bleak and/or freaky touch intact.
The synopsis for the episode is as follows: A lone traveller stumbles across a tourist-friendly crime museum with a shocking star attraction. Netflix also notes “Black Museum” is a “compendium episode, with three stories contained in one, much like the ‘White Christmas‘ episode.”
“Black Mirror” has no release date, but considering the review embargo on season four lifts this week, we’ll surely be seeing the show arrive on Netflix some time this month. Perhaps it’ll be a Christmastime surprise like “The OA” was last year.
