Got a Tip?

‘Blade Runner 2049’ Trailer With Denis Villeneuve’s Director’s Commentary

We’re all in that weird space right now, clutching our tickets for “Blade Runner 2049,” and trying to balance the excitement about seeing the movie, with caution about having anything spoiled. As Friday draws closer, the need to keep yourself inside a media blocked cocoon brushes up against the desire to keep picking the scab of marketing material. Well, hopefully this latest piece of promotional material can act as the middle ground.

A revamped trailer for “Blade Runner 2049” has landed, featuring commentary by director Denis Villeneuve. To be honest, even I haven’t watched it as I’m trying to keep as pure as possible until Sunday. But it’s probably safe to say that the filmmaker isn’t going to go around spoiling his own movie just days before its release. So if you need to sate your appetite, you’re probably just fine. As a refresher, here’s the terrifically vague synopsis:

Three decades after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

“Blade Runner 2049” heads to the future on October 6th.
