The idea of a TV series version of a popular film might make many people recoil in fear. That just sounds like a recipe for failure. However, we’ve seen it work out well with something like “Fargo.” And more recently, it’s been a good thing with the Starz series, “Blindspotting,” which is about to debut its second season.
As seen in the trailer for “Blindspotting” Season 2, the show continues the story from Season 1, which follows Ashley as she continues to navigate life with her partner being incarcerated. This forces her to live with her in-laws and try to figure everything out. As you might expect, there are plenty of emotions, but also heaps of humor.
The series stars Jasmine Cephas Jones, who had a supporting role in the original film. She’s joined in the cast by Jaylen Barron, Candace Nicholas-Lippman, Benjamin Earl Turner, Atticus Woodward, Rafael Casal, and Helen Hunt. “Blindspotting” is created and produced by Casal alongside Daveed Diggs, the two men behind the original film.
It’s been almost two years since Season 1, but in our review of the original season, we raved about the series and said, “The series is vibrant and just as full of inspired storytelling, with bursts of creativity that now give ‘Blindspotting’s’ theatrical vision a fitting home in forward-thinking TV.”
“Blindspotting” Season 2 debuts on Starz on April 14. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Six months after Ashley and Miles’s prison wedding, Ashley is navigating the chaos of her life in Oakland alongside her family and doing her best to be a fun mom for her son. … with mixed results.
