One of 2024’s most anticipated movies has an official release date — and a new title. Deadline reports that Zoë Kravitz‘s feature directorial debut will hit theaters at the end of August courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios under the name “Blink Twice.” That’s not as provocative as its former title “Pussy Island,” but despite a different title, the film has the same sleazy set-up.

Written by Kravtiz and E.T. Feigenbaum, “Blink Twice” stars Naomi Ackie as Friday, a cocktail waitress who gets an exclusive invite to the exotic private island of Channing Tatum‘s tech billionaire Slater King. But what starts as a trip to paradise soon takes a dark turn as strange things start to happen, and Frida begins to question King’s intentions. What sinister secrets is Slater King hiding, and will Frida make it off the island alive?
Along with Ackie and Tatum, “Blink Twice” also stars Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan, and Geena Davis. Yes, that’s the main cast and an awesome ensemble. Kravitz leads producers, including Bruce Cohen, Tiffany Persons, and Garret Levitz.
Amazon MGM has an early lead in the 2024 box office battle with three movies currently in the top ten: “American Fiction,” David Ayer‘s “The Beekeeper,” and George Clooney‘s “The Boys In The Boat.” Bear in mind, it’s not even February yet, but the studio’s success will continue into the spring when Luca Guadagnino‘s “Challengers” with Zendaya hits theaters on April 26. Other upcoming Amazon MGM releases besides “Blink Twice” this year? Holiday actioner “Red One” with Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evan on November 15.
As for “Blink Twice,” Kravitz’s film faces off against faith-based drama “The Forge” on its August 23 opening weekend, so expect it to win that battle.
