'Bombshell' Trailer: Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman & More Go For Oscars In The Roger Ailes Drama

Hollywood sure does love a good scandal. Well, not the people involved in the scandal. Those folks normally end up with no job, public shame, and well, a cushy house hidden in the Hollywood hills. But for the rest of the industry, scandals are great! Why? Well, when there’s a really juicy one, you get to make a film such as “Bombshell.”

As seen in the new trailer for “Bombshell,” the latest film from director Jay Roach tackles the scandal surrounding now-deceased, former Fox News boss Roger Ailes. According to multiple women throughout the years, Ailes was known as a man that abused his power in sexually inappropriate ways. And the film tackles those allegations head-on, but with an all-star cast that looks to be turning in some awards-worthy performances.

The cast for “Bombshell” includes Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Kate McKinnon, Connie Britton, Mark Duplass, Rob Delaney, Malcolm McDowell, Allison Janney, Alice Eve, and John Lithgow, who plays Ailes.

As mentioned, the film comes from director Roach, who is probably best known for his work in films like the ‘Austin Powers’ franchise, “Meet the Fockers,” and “Dinner for Schmucks.” But much like peers such as Adam McKay, he’s taken his decidedly comedic gifts and lent them to the world of drama. His last film was the biopic “Trumbo.” Roach is joined by writer Charles Randolph on the film. The writer previously worked on “The Big Short,” which earned him an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

“Bombshell” is already getting strong Oscars buzz, thanks to early reactions that praise the cast and clearly show that the film is likely going to make a big impact when it’s released in theaters on December 20.
