Coming hot off of a surprisingly successful awards season run, there’s a new, extended cut of “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” coming to Amazon Prime. Fully titled “Borat Supplemental Reportings Retrieved From Floor of Stable Containing Editing Machine,” the multi-part special will include “never before seen footage,” extended sequences, and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film – and we’re getting all of this without a #ReleaseTheBoratCut movement to boot!

“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” was released on Prime in October last year, in the middle of a deadly pandemic and at the height of the Biden-Trump election cycle. So… the perfect time for a ‘Borat’ picture to come out. Now, in the aftermath of the election and during massive vaccine rollouts, it seems like maestro Sacha Baron Cohen wants to take a look back at these recent tumultuous events and reflect on their implications to date.

Amazon has released a trailer for the extended cut, which showcases new scenes and even behind-the-scenes footage of Cohen breaking character, urging his driver to speed away from an angry mob converging on their production van. The trailer also teases new scenes between Maria Bakalova and the fan-adored babysitter Jeanise Jones.

Bakalova became a breakout star in the role of Tutar, Borat’s daughter. Through her performance, Bakalova injected surprisingly potent and much-needed heart and soul into the political romp. Subsequently, she’s gone on to receive Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Academy Award nominations for her performance. The film itself also nabbed a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination from the Academy.
