‘Boy Kills World’ Red-Band Trailer: Bill Skarsgård Brings The Bloody Mayhem On April 25

Filmmaker Moritz Mohr’sBoy Kills World” looks wild. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, a crazy matriarch keeps control of a modern city with the “culling,” a televised execution for entertainment by breakfast cereal mascots. From there, it’s a wild origin story about getting strong, getting a team, and then getting revenge. The titular “Boy” of the movie is Bill Skarsgård, who is really poised to have a banner 2024.

On top of starring in “Boy Kills World,” Skarsgård is all set to lead the new “Crow” film for Lionsgate and then lead Robert Eggers’ much-anticipated goth horror “Nosferatu” at Christmas for Universal.

“Boy Kills World” features an all-star cast, too, including Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, Yayan Ruhian, Andrew Koji, Sharlto Copley, and Famke Janssen. The voice of “Boy”—the one you hear in the trailer— is narrated by H. Jon Benjamin.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Skarsgård stars as “Boy” who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless. Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Ruhian) to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. Bedlam ensues as Boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting a wrath of carnage and blood-letting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.

Written by Tyler Burton Smith and Arend Remmers and produced by Sam Raimi—whose influence you can feel in the film—Roy Lee, Simon Swart, Alex Lebovici, Stuart Manashil, Wayne Fitzjohn, Zainab Azizi, and Dan Kagan, “Boy Kills World” is set for an April 25, 2024 release date via Roadside Attractions.
