'Breaking Bad' Star Jesse Plemons Is Being Eyed For A Leading Role In ‘Star Wars Episode VII’

Jesse Plemons, Battleship

If J.J. Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan and Kathleen Kennedy are looking to shake things up and have their “Star Wars” movie ‘Episode VII‘ stand out, they might just have find the right maneuver, and it’s one in very atypical casting.

According to The Wrap, Jesse Plemons, “The Breaking Bad” star (Todd, the pleasant, but kind of sociopathic criminal) who also had a small, but key role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master,” is being eyed for a lead role in the Abrams-directed picture. While the 25-year-old actor hasn’t secured the part yet, the actor is definitely in contention and is coming back to audition for the “Super 8” and “Star Trek” franchise filmmaker again (his first taped audition reportedly impressed). Plemons also had a role in Peter Berg‘s “Battleship” and the “Friday Night Lights” TV show.

No details on what that role might be, but as the Wrap speculates, Plemons does look vaguely like a young Luke Skywalker and there’s been many rumors that have said the new “Star Wars” films will pick up with the children of Luke, Han and Leia. More details when we have them. “Star Wars: Episode VII” is co-written by Abrams and Kasdan and is due in theaters December 18, 2015.
