It’s not a shock when we see Wes Anderson pull together a massively talented cast of A-listers for a film project. For decades, that’s been his modus operandi. But it really does feel like he’s pulling out all of the stops for his upcoming untitled film that is in production in Spain, as every day seems to find us talking about a brand-new addition to the already star-studded cast.

Instead of adding just one massive name to the cast, THR has revealed that Wes Anderson is adding four incredible actors to his growing troupe for his untitled film that is filming now. This time, he’s adding Bryan Cranston, Hope Davis, Jeffrey Wright, and Liev Schreiber to the cast that already includes regulars such as Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, and Tilda Swinton, as well as Anderson newbies such as Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Rupert Friend, and Scarlett Johansson (who did appear as a voice actor in “Isle of Dogs,” but not in live-action, yet).
Yes, that’s an incredible cast. And obviously, it’s unclear the size of the roles that each of these actors will inhabit, with quite a few seemingly set up for smaller supporting performances.
The four new actors have various levels of experience when it comes to Wes Anderson productions. For Davis, this marks her first time collaborating with the acclaimed filmmaker. Cranston, much like Johansson, appeared as a voice actor in “Isle of Dogs,” but has yet to make the leap into Anderson’s live-action world until now. And as for Wright and Schrieber, both men are expected to appear in “The French Dispatch,” which is currently scheduled for an October release.
Filming on the new untitled Wes Anderson project is expected to continue until the end of September. A release date has yet to be announced, though a 2022 date seems most likely.
