'Candy' Teaser: Jessica Biel Is A Homicidal Housewife In Hulu's New True-Crime Series

Without knowing anything about her decision-making process, it’s clear that Jessica Biel decided to make some bold career choices in the mid-2010s. After a career as a recognizable leading lady in mostly subpar films, the actress decided to dive headfirst into TV and take on some challenging roles in hard-hitting thrillers and dramas. And ultimately, leading the way with “The Sinner” back in 2017, that has worked out really well for Biel. Now, she has yet another prestige drama on deck with the new limited series, “Candy.”

As seen in the teaser for “Candy,” Biel stars as the title character in the true-crime story of a seemingly happy, church-going lady who finds herself accused of murder. Though you can see bits of Biel’s signature look in the role, the actress is clearly hiding behind an era-appropriate ‘80s wig and glasses, making her seem just a little bit…off.

Biel is surrounded by acting talent in the cast of “Candy,” including Melanie Lynskey, Timothy Simons, Pablo Schreiber, and Raúl Esparza. The series is created by Robin Veith and Nick Antosca, who rose to fame as writers and producers on the award-winning miniseries, “The Act.”

“Candy” debuts as part of a “five-night event” on Hulu beginning on May 9. You can watch the teaser below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Candy Montgomery is a 1980 housewife and mother who did everything right—good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions—but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom. Until someone tells her to shush. With deadly results.

Update: a new teaser arrived on Oscar night, March 27, 2022
