Charlize Theron Sought For Villain Role In 'Fast 8'

Mad Max: Fury RoadWhile Universal‘s "Fast & Furious" franchise is winding down, with three more movies to go (at least for now), don’t think for a second they aren’t going to try to make each one bigger than the last. And for "Fast 8," they’ve got their eyes on a major talent to play the villain.

Deadline reports that the filmmakers are seeking out "Mad Max: Fury Road" star Charlize Theron to play the villain in "Fast 8." If it seems like an outlandish idea, Theron has previously worked with director F. Gary Gray on "The Italian Job," and apparently her schedule is open, so she could take the role if she wanted. This is also the studio that nabbed Tom Cruise to star in "The Mummy" and Johnny Depp to play "The Invisible Man." And no doubt, after enduring the tough shoot of ‘Fury Road,’ facing the testosterone of Vin Diesel and his crew should be no sweat.

Theron hasn’t seen Chris Morgan‘s script yet (it’s not finished), so we’ll see how this plays out, and if she’s even interested in the part. But if she does get cast, it will definitely be a boost of acting nitro to the blockbuster. "Fast 8" opens on April 14, 2017.
