“Chicken Run” was a breakout hit for Aardman Animations in 2000 after garnering a following in the UK and US for their “Wallace And Gromit” and “Morph” shorts. And twenty-three years later, “Chicken Run” remains the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film of all time. Let’s see if a sequel flies with audiences over two decades later, when “Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget” hits Netflix next month.

“ParaNorman” director Sam Fell helms the upcoming sequel, which sees Ginger, the Chicken leader from “Chicken Run,” at peace in her life after escaping Tweedy’s farm. But a new threat to chickens everywhere forces Ginger back to Tweedy’s, and this time she’s not breaking out, but breaking in.

Having pulled off a death-defying escape from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger has finally found her dream – a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky hatch a little girl called Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems complete. But back on the mainland the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means putting their own hard-won freedom at risk – this time, they’re breaking in!
Thandiwe Newton leads the voice cast of “Dawn Of The Nugget,” with Zachary Levi, Bella Ramsey, Imelda Staunton, and Lynn Ferguson also starring. David Bradley, Jane Horrocks, Romesh Ranganathan, Daniel Mays, and Josie Sedgwick-Davies also star. Peter Serafinowicz, Nick Mohammed, and Miranda Richardson round out the main voice cast.
Fell directs a script by Karey Kirkpartrick & John O’Farrell and Racel Tunnard. Stephen Perkins edits the film with, Steve Pegram and Leyla Hobart leading producers. Harry Gregson-Williams writes music for the film. Executive producers include Peter Lord, Nick Park, Carla Shelley, Fell, Paul Kewley, and Kirkpatrick.
