“Honey Don’t!” arrives in multiplexes on August 22 after its world premiere in the Midnight Screenings section at Cannes. The comedy stars Margaret Qualley as Honey O’Donahue, a detective in Bakersfield, California, who investigates a series of strange deaths connected to a mysterious church. The film also stars Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, Charlie Day, and Billie Eichner. With that cast, expect a zany comedic style similar to Coen’s last directorial effort, last year’s “Drive-Away Dolls.”
Coen co-writes “Honey Don’t!” with his partner Tricia Cooke, as he did on “Drive-Away Dolls.” The pair also produce the film with Robert Graf, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner. Also of note: Universal Pictures International handles the film’s international distribution, with its release dates overseas still to be determined.
Stay tuned for more details on “Honey Don’t!” as it approaches its Cannes world premiere.
