Got a Tip?

Chloë Grace Moretz Says Louis C.K.’s Unreleased ‘I Love You, Daddy’ Should Stay On The Shelf

Chloë Grace Moretz was set to have a pretty great 2018. Not only is she starring in the acclaimed “Miseducation of Cameron Post” and the upcoming, highly-anticipated “Suspiria” remake from filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, but the young actress also had a starring role in the new film from comedian-filmmaker Louis C.K., titled “I Love You, Daddy.” But with C.K. finding himself in the center of a #MeToo storm of controversy, the secret indie film that he was going to release has found itself on the shelf. And for Moretz, that’s probably where it belongs.

In a new interview with the New York Times, the actress talked about her film with C.K. and why she thinks that it probably shouldn’t ever be released.

“I think it should just kind of go away, honestly. I don’t think it’s time for them to have a voice right now,” she said. “Of course, it’s devastating to put time into a project and have it disappear. But at the same time, this movement is so powerful and so progressive that I’m just happy to be in communication with everyone and to see the big change in the face of the industry, which I think is very, very real.”

The ”them” she’s referring to are those accused of sexual abuse. For those that aren’t aware, Louis C.K. found himself in hot water when he admitted that he masturbated in front of unwilling participants. While he openly admitted to the wrongdoing and promised to learn from his mistakes, the comedian lost his distribution deal for “I Love You, Daddy” and also stepped away from the public eye.

Many had hoped that maybe his film would eventually be released, considering it was already completed. However, with the subject matter, specifically dealing with a young woman whose father doesn’t approve of her love affair with a much older man, the idea of “I Love You, Daddy” coming out at this time seemed like a longshot.

Needless to say, Moretz will be just fine, with or without the film. Her other major projects seem to be putting her firmly on the map of a true rising acting powerhouse.
