Chris Miller Says 'Jump Street' Meets 'Men In Black' Is "A Really Interesting Concept That Makes You Think"

21 Jump Street, Men in BlackOne of the weirder things to come out of the Sony hack was a proposed 21 Jump Street” and “Men In Black” crossover. Jonah Hill apparently digs the idea, and last month, Phil Lord said it was still on the table. Chris Miller reiterates that point, saying that it’s a way they can do a third movie without repeating themselves, and the idea seems to have latched on.

"…it’s very, very early on in this crazy fever pitch, but it’s definitely a really interesting concept that makes you think. Talking about it, developing it with Jonah and Channing and [co-writer] Rodney [Rothman] and the studio, we can’t just do the, ‘Hey, it’s the same thing again’ schtick because we did that already," Miller told ComingSoon.

"If we’re going to do something, it’s got to be different but still have that same very specific ‘Jump Street’ flavor to it," he adds.

It still sounds too crazy to work, and something of a cynical way to kick life to franchise ("Men In Black") that is pretty much dead. However, it wouldn’t be the first time Lord and Miller took what was thought to be a brainless exercise in branding and made it sing with originality ("The Lego Movie"). Until we know more, you can tune in to the duo’s new show "The Last Man On Earth" when it debuts on Fox this Sunday.
