‘Cinderella’ Trailer: Camila Cabello Makes Her Feature Film Debut In Amazon’s Updated Fairy Tale

With two RIAA-certified platinum albums, it’s safe to say that Camila Cabello is one of this generation’s pop stars on the rise. Now, Cabello looks to extend her reach to the big screen, with her feature film debut in “Cinderella,” hitting Amazon Prime this September.

In this modern musical update to the traditional fairy tale, Cabelo stars as the eponymous young woman whose dreams of love and fortune miraculously come true.  Nicolas Galitzine (‘The Craft: Legacy‘) plays Prince Charming to Cabelo’s Cinderella, while singer and style icon Billy Porter plays Fab G, this version’s take on the girl’s fairy godmother.

The film also stars Idina Menzel, the voice behind Elsa in the “Frozen” films, Pierce Brosnan, John Mulaney, Minnie Driver, Maddie Baillio, and Missy ElliottJames Corden, who also serves as one of the film’s producers, rounds out the main cast.

Best known for her work behind the scenes for the “Pitch Perfect” series, Kay Cannon writes and directs “Cinderella.” It’s her first directing gig since 2018’s “Blockers.”

Alongside pop songs from various contemporary artists, “Cinderella” also has original songs by Cabelo and Menzel. The film’s official soundtrack will be available to purchase/listen to on Amazon and Apple Music on July 16.

Production got underway for “Cinderella” in February 2020, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic effectively shut down the industry. Filming resumed last August and wrapped in September.

Initially slated for a February 5, 2021 release, Sony Pictures postponed the film’s release to July 2021.   Amazon Studios then bought the movie from Sony in May and will now release “Cinderella” on Amazon Prime this September.
