Got a Tip?

Cinematographer Christopher Doyle To Lens First 3D Film ‘The Rabbit Horror’

Perhaps best known for his collaboration with Wong Kar-Wai on a run of the director’s films including “Ashes Of Times,” “Happy Together,” “Fallen Angels,” “2046” and “In The Mood For Love” cinematographer Christopher Doyle has always seemed to go wherever his interests lie. He’s worked with Gus Van Sant (“Paranoid Park“), M. Night Shyamalan (“The Lady In The Water“) and Jim Jarmusch (“The Limits Of Control“) among others, but his latest project will make a first for the cinematographer.

Doyle is getting ready to shoot his first film in 3D, “The Rabbit Horror” set to be directed “The Grudge” helmer Takashi Shimizu. Starring Hikari Mitsushima (“The Villain“) and Teruyuki Kagawa (“Tokyo Sonata“), the film will tell the story “of a boy’s crumbling family,” and “his dangerous relationship with a stuffed toy animal that comes to life.”

Yeah, the synopsis doesn’t leave us too excited, but the prospect of Doyle lensing in 3D is full of potential. Even in the most banal of projects (see “Lady In The Water”) Doyle can manage to squeeze in some breathtaking money shots, and now with three dimensions to play with, we can’t wait to see what he conjures up.
