Clifton Collins Jr. is one of those reliable character actors who sometimes get taken for granted, but who can pretty much do it all. There’s a reason directors like J.J. Abrams (“Star Trek“), Edgar Wright (“Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World“), Jim Sheridan (“Brothers“), Bennett Miller (“Capote“), Terrence Malick (his upcoming music scene movie if he doesn’t get cut) and more have called on him, and how he’s lining up a role in one of next year’s most exciting and mysterious projects.
Collins Jr. has boarded Wally Pfister‘s “Transcendence,” which is, of course, produced by Christopher Nolan. The actor joins Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Paul Bettany, Morgan Freeman and Cillian Murphy in the flick about an assassinated scientist who gets his brain uploaded to a computer. Of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg in Jack Paglen‘s Black List script. And as always, plot details are being kept totally secret for the moment.
Production starts in May and the movie is slated to hit on April 25, 2014. You can see Collins Jr. next in Guillermo Del Toro‘s monster mayhem movie “Pacific Rim.” [Variety]
