‘Too Much’ First Look: Lena Dunham’s Ex-Pat Rom-Com Series Debuts July 10 On Netflix

While she made a huge impact on TV and pop culture with “Girls” that ran from 2012-2017, it’s been a minute since writer/director/creator Lena Dunham had a zeitgeist-capturing show on TV (2018’s “Camping” was canceled after one season). But after spending several years on the big screen writing and directing her own indie movies, Dunham has returned with her latest show, “Too Much.”

Premiering July 10 on Netflix, “Too Much” stars “Hacks” breakout star Meg Stalter, Will Sharpe, Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Andrew Rannells, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, and Adwoa Aboah.

Stalter plays a New Yorker who takes a new job in London, England, after a breakup in the hopes of adapting the life of an isolated literary spinster, and that plan is derailed after meeting a local named Felix, with whom she finds a unique connection.

An official synopsis for “Too Much” via Netflix:

Jessica (Stalter) is a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever, and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behaviour, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Bronte sister. But when she meets Felix (Sharpe) – a walking series of red flags – she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language?
