While known for heady and not easily penetrable arthouse movies, Bruno Dumont turned a corner last year with "Li’l Quinquin." The comedic TV series premiered to great acclaim at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, was a big hit in France, and marked Dumont’s most accessible project in years. Now it’s coming to Blu-ray and we want to give you a copy.
The story kicks off following the discovery of human body parts stuffed inside a cow on the outskirts of the English Channel in northern France. The bumbling Captain Van der Weyden is assigned to investigate the crime, but he has to contend with a young prankster, the mischievous Quinquin, as he proceeds to investigate the case. And the result is something we called "rewarding and layered in such a way that it invites repeat viewings." ‘Quinquin’ also landed on Cahiers du Cinema’s Top 10 of 2014 list and our own 25 Best Films Of 2015 We’ve Already Seen.
