'The Crown' Season 3 First Look: Olivia Colman & Helena Bonham Carter Join The Emmy Winning Series

Olivia Colman has turned into the belle of the ball in late 2018. Thanks to her incredible role in the Oscar contender “The Favourite,” the actress has been consistently at the top of people’s Best of 2018 lists (**Spoiler alert, she ranks pretty damn high on our Best Performances list**). But for as good as 2018 has been for Colman, 2019 is shaping up to become perhaps her biggest yet, thanks to Netflix’sThe Crown.”

As we enter the highly-anticipated third season of the Emmy Award-winning drama, “The Crown” is mixing things up. Gone are the original cast that has been the highlight of the first two seasons. Instead, Claire Foy, Matt Smith, and the rest are replaced with Colman, Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter, and Ben Daniels, among others. This is all due to the time-jump that sees the young Queen Elizabeth suddenly age into her older adult years.

And in the first look at the upcoming Season 3, courtesy of EW, we see how Colman, Bonham Carter, and Co. look as their respective characters. That is to say, they all look amazing and “The Crown” is likely not to miss a beat with this new crew of acclaimed actors taking the reins.

Colman is likely to get an Oscar nomination (and perhaps a win) in early 2019, but it’s her role as Elizabeth on “The Crown” that is likely to push her over the edge into stardom. And it’s about time.

“The Crown” Season 3 will launch on Netflix on sometime in 2019. (Damn, Netflix and their reluctance to give release dates!)
