‘Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!’ Trailer: Jamie Foxx Joins The Sitcom Ranks In New Netflix Series

Before he became an Oscar-winning film actor that headlined a number of major features, Jamie Foxx got his start on the small screen. From his multi-season run on the sketch comedy series, “In Living Color,” in the early-‘90s to his popular sitcom, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” Foxx became a household name telling jokes and acting silly on TV. Now, he returns to that realm with Netflix’s upcoming sitcom, “Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!

As the title implies, “Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!” tells the story of a dad that, well, does dad things that embarrass his teenage daughter. Inspired by his real-life relationship between Foxx and his daughter, Corinne, this Netflix series sees the actor dress in silly costumes, tell cringey jokes, and fully embrace the sitcom lifestyle.

Joining Foxx in the cast is his “In Living Color” cohort, David Alan Grier, as well as folks like Kyla-Drew, Porscha Coleman, Jonathan Kite, Heather Hemmes, Valente Rodriguez, and Miracle Reigns.

“Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!” debuts on Netflix on April 14.

Here’s the synopsis:

Brian Dixon (Jamie Foxx), successful business owner and bachelor, just became a full-time father to his teenage daughter Sasha (Kyla-Drew). Determined to be the best father he can be, Brian’s going to need all the help he can get from his dad (David Alan Grier) and sister (Porscha Coleman) — and Sasha’s going to need all the help she can get learning how to deal with her new, lovingly chaotic. Full of heart and humor, Dad Stop Embarrassing Me is inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with daughter Corinne Foxx, who also serves as executive producer. The multi-cam sitcom reunites Foxx with showrunner Bentley Kyle Evans (The Jamie Foxx Show) and is directed by Ken Whittingham (black-ish).
