With the SAG strike only just now ending, it appears production on the final season of “Stranger Things” will begin soon enough. But that means we won’t see the Hawkins kids return until 2025, most likely. Thankfully, Netflix will have something to appease eager fans, as “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown has a new action film coming next year, titled “Damsel.”
And as seen in the first teaser for the film, “Damsel” finds the young actor starring as a would-be princess chosen as a sacrifice, as she is thrown in a cave with a dragon eager to eat her. She must use her wits and might to escape the assumed death. The teaser only begins to show the lengths the young woman will go to stay alive in such a treacherous situation.
Joining Brown in the cast are Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright. “Damsel” is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who is probably best known for his films “Intruders” and “28 Weeks Later.” Most recently, he’s been doing quite a bit of TV work. He’s also attached to a remake of “The Sword and the Stone.”
Is “Damsel” enough to satiate “Stranger Things” fans hoping to see the resolution to a series that has spanned quite a few years? We’ll have to wait and see. But if Millie Bobby Brown has proven anything, specifically with her other Netflix franchise, “Enola Holmes,” the young actor is able to hold her own in something new.
“Damel” is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2024. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:
A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.
