Danny Boyle will direct “28 Months Later,” Danny Boyle won’t direct “28 Months Later.” It seems like it changes every few months.
In 2007, Boyle told MTV that yes, he really thought directing the film would be a possibility. Then he said the same in September of this year. Then in October, it looked like Boyle would again hand over the reigns to another director like his did with, “28 Weeks Later,” and just deliver the idea and executive-produce again.
Now’s he’s saying directing is a possibility… again. “I’d certainly like to . “I feel the idea is quite a strong idea, and it could well involve directing it. Yeah, absolutely.”
What’s the idea? He has a concept, but it doesn’t sound finished and he’s not divulging. “There is an idea for a third part, but I haven’t really done enough about it yet….so I can’t really tell you any more than that at the moment, but hopefully that might happen.”
Scripting hasn’t even started though and they’re in the really early stages, so don’t be surprised that when/if it all comes together, Boyle is already signed-on to another project and will have to let someone else handle it. Essentially it comes down to this: If Boyle happens to be free, he’ll direct, if he’s not, he won’t. We wouldn’t place any bets.
We were surprised how good the sequel to “28 Days Later” was and it didn’t tarnish the franchise, but we’re hoping they don’t overstay their welcome with the third one.
