Bad news for true Snyder Cut believers! First, the high council of HBO Max reportedly said that they are not interested in moving forward with releasing the mythical cut that the legends have foretold. Now the theatrical cut’s composer, Danny Elfman, is attempting to raise doubts by claiming that Zack Snyder never finished his Snyder Cut of “Justice League” – also known as the holy grail of cinema.
The terrible news comes from The Big Reviewski podcast over at JOE, where composer Danny Elfman said of the Snyder Cut, “Well, the thing is, he never finished it. So, I don’t know quite how they’d do that. He had a tremendous tragedy, which forced him to not finish the film.” The false prophet speaks truth in that last bit. Zack Snyder first left “Justice League” due to a family tragedy, and it wasn’t until after that Joss Whedon came on board and the holy Snyder Cut was lost to legend. Likewise, the golden sound of Junkie XL’s score for “Justice League” was lost when the composer was replaced by Elfman after Joss Whedon joined the project.
“When Joss came on the film, he stepped in with only a few days notice, to pick up the helm because of this terrible, terrible tragedy that happened,” Elfman continued. “So it is kind of a unique situation. I mean, there is definitely other movies where the director was fired, and a studio radically changed the movie because they didn’t like it. And as a fan, you go ‘I wonder what the director did, before the studio changed the movie.’ But I’m not really aware of how that dynamic would really apply here.”
It is worth noting, however, that in that same interview, Elfman also gave some misinformation about “The Simpsons.” According to Elfman, the long-running animated show “may be coming to an end” soon, as in, “it will be in its last year.” However, speaking to Metro, showrunner Al Jean quickly dismissed what Elfman said and explained that the show is “already producing season 32 starting next year and have no plans to end after that.”
Is Elfman right? Is everything lost? Or as Jason Momoa said, the Snyder Cut is not only real, but it is “ssssiiicccckkkkkk”? Only time will tell.
