'Dark Harvest' Trailer: David Slade's Long-Awaited Horror Film Arrives In October

It’s kinda crazy to think that since 2010 (when he released the massively popular “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse“), filmmaker David Slade has only worked on one feature film, 2018’s experimental Netflix project, “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.” Sure, over that time, he has worked quite a bit with quality TV series like “Breaking Bad,” “Hannibal,” and “American Gods,” but he hasn’t done really anything in film. That is, until now, and the release of “Dark Harvest.”

As seen in the trailer for “Dark Harvest,” the horror film takes place in the early ‘60s in a small town that is seemingly cursed by Sawtooth Jack. This villain is some sort of mystical being who brings nothing but terrible things for this town’s annual harvest. So, every year, the town comes together to hunt Sawtooth Jack to prevent the deaths of townsfolk and help the prosperity of the small community.

“Dark Harvest” has been in a bit of a release limbo for a while now. Filming began in 2021, and it was anticipated the film was going to be released in 2022. However, the film was taken off the schedule and is now being released more than a year later. “Dark Harvest” stars Casey Likes, E’myri Crutchfield, Dustin Ceithamer, Elizabeth Reaser, and Jeremy Davies.

“Dark Harvest” arrives on VOD on October 13. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

In a cursed town, the annual harvest becomes a brutal battle for survival. On Halloween 1963, Sawtooth Jack, a terrifying legend, rises from the cornfields, threatening the town’s children. Groups of boys unite to defeat the murderous scarecrow before midnight. Richie, a rebellious outcast, joins the run, motivated by his brother’s previous victory. As the hunt progresses, Richie makes a shocking discovery and faces a pivotal choice to break the relentless cycle.
