Dave Bautista is getting a bit of spotlight outside of his MCU projects with Zack Snyder‘s “Army of The Dead” being a big hit for Netflix leading to a sequel being announced and will be seen as one of the main villains in Denis Villeneuve‘s “Dune” when the film hits theaters/HBO Max on October 22.
The action star took to Twitter to make a pitch about himself teaming up with “Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom“s Jason Momoa for a “Lethal Weapon“-type buddy cop action film directed by “Hobbs & Shaw“s David Leitch. Certainly, a fun idea; it’ll be curious to see if the other gents bite.
“Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go…me and Momoa in a ‘Lethal Weapon’-type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait.,” Dave Bautista said on Twitter yesterday.
Bautista and Momoa have a bit of history; they worked together on Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” and season two of the Apple TV+ series “See,” so perhaps they’ve built up a friendship and rapport. Interestingly enough, Jason Momoa was originally courted for the Drax role in “Guardians of The Galaxy” and some early concept artwork has his face on the character.
David Leitch recently wrapped on “Bullet Train,” starring Brad Pitt, and is getting ready to shoot the memory loss thriller “Fast & Loose” led by Will Smith for Netflix.
“Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3” begins shooting in November in the United Kingdom, and Dave Bautista has indicated it could be the final outing for Drax. There is an expectation that he’ll return for “Dune: Part Two” because his character is expected to survive the story’s first half.
