Dave Franco might have started his acting career with some questionable films like “Charlie St. Cloud” and the “Fright Night” remake. However, over the last year, he’s really come into his own, with great performances in “The Disaster Artist” and the recent drama “Six Balloons.” And later this year, he has a role in Barry Jenkins’ highly-anticipated film “If Beale Street Could Talk.” But after that? He’s joining up with Ryan Reynolds and Michael Bay. It’s time for Dave Franco, Action Star!
According to Collider, Franco has signed on to co-star next to Ryan Reynolds in the Michael Bay-directed action film, “Six Underground,” which is coming to Netflix. As far as the plot goes, there’s not much to report, as details are scarce. However, the film is written by “Deadpool” writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, so that should give you some idea as to the tone of the film. Expect lots of ‘splosions, witty banter, and general Bayhem all around.

But Franco and Renolds only make up two of the titular six. The three of the other four will be played by actors Corey Hawkins, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Adria Arjona according to Variety. Hawkins is probably best known for his work in “Straight Outta Compton,” but also starred in the “24” reboot, recently. Arjona has been seen in Melissa McCarthy’s recent comedy “Life of the Party,” as well as the action film “Pacific Rim: Uprising” (remember that?). Garcia-Rulfo has most recently been in “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” and the Amazon series “Goliath.”
No word on a specific release date yet for “Six Underground.” However, production is slated to start later this month, with Netflix releasing the film worldwide sometime in 2019.
