Got a Tip?

David Lynch Writing Memoir To Correct “A Lot Of Bullsh*t Out There About Me”

nullDavid Lynch is ready to work. We’re approaching a decade since his last feature film, "Inland Empire," and while he’s busied himself with music, coffee, commercial work, shorts, and uh, weather, the filmmaker has really rolled up his sleeves in 2015. The director is already shooting an entire new season of "Twin Peaks," and if that’s not enough, he’s now writing a book.

Publishing house Canongate has revealed Lynch is teaming with Kristine McKenna on a memoir of sorts, titled simply "Life And Work," that will be based on interviews with ninety of his collaborators, family, and friends, with the director "riffing on his own life." And it seems Lynch is very eager to correct the record on whatever people might have read or think about who he actually is.

“There’s a lot of bullshit out there about me, in books and all over the Internet,” Lynch said in a statement. “I want to get all the right information in one place, so if someone wants to know something, they can find it here. And I wouldn’t do it with anyone other than [journalist] Kristine [McKenna]; she and I go way back, and she gets it right.”

No word yet on a release date for "Life And Work," but I’d wager it’s still a couple of years away. Until then, read David Foster Wallace‘s terrific piece for Premiere magazine about the making of "Lost Highway" below. [FACT]
