This year’s San Diego Comic-Con is going to be an interesting affair. Not that previous years haven’t been interesting, but in 2018, it looks like with the likes of Marvel Studios forgoing a big Hall H presentation, the stage is set for some other film, studio, or personality to “win” the year and earn a ton of buzz. While we already know that WB/DC is pulling out all the stops this year, we’ve been wondering if/when Fox would announce their slate. Well, now we know.
Details for the entirety of Fox’s Hall H presentation are scarce, but they did announce that one of the films guaranteed to be talked about is the recent hit “Deadpool 2.” And to honor the film’s home video release, Fox is going to invite members of the cast and crew to Hall H and they’ll also screen a new “Super Duper $@%!#& Cut” of the film, said to have 15 minutes of new footage. But if you can’t make it to SDCC this year, never fear! Fox is releasing this new cut of the film as part of their Blu-ray disc.
As far as any news on “Dark Phoenix,” “X-Force,” “Deadpool 3,” “New Mutants,” or god forbid, “Gambit,” there’s no official word. However, it wouldn’t be too crazy to expect a trailer for “Dark Phoenix” and perhaps some casting or official word on when we’ll see “X-Force.” If ever there was a year for Fox to really put their best foot forward, this is it. Especially considering this may be the last Fox SDCC presentation…ever. That is, if the Disney deal goes through, as expected.
Fox’s Hall H presentation is set to happen Saturday, July 21.
