Sure, sure, sure, Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine in “Deadpool 3.” And yes, the film marks the debut of both Deadpool and Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. All of that is wonderful and lovely, but we finally have confirmation about the biggest news yet regarding the upcoming threequel—Peter is back!
According to Deadline, Rob Delaney is set to reprise his role as Peter, everyone’s favorite X-Force member, in the forthcoming “Deadpool 3.” Exact details about his return in the new film are unknown, but Peter, who has no discernable superpowers or fighting skills, will be joining Wolverine and Deadpool in the forthcoming film. Perhaps, he’s going to be the Joe Pesci in the Danny Glover/Mel Gibson “Lethal Weapon 3” dynamic? We can only hope.
As mentioned, Delaney made his debut as Peter in “Deadpool 2,” where he is a normal, run-of-the-mill dude who just wants to join X-Force because it seemed like a good idea. And in what might be the best scene of the film, where all of the other members of Deadpool’s newly formed team die in horrific accidents, Peter walks away unscathed. Though, he isn’t much help.

Again, it’s unclear how Peter might fit in “Deadpool 3.” I was only joking about the Pesci/Gibson/Glover dynamic, though I would love for it to happen. Delaney will likely just be there for a quick gag before Wolverine and Deadpool go off on their own adventure.
“Deadpool 3” is expected to arrive in theaters on November 8, 2024.
