‘Deadpool & Wolverine’: Ryan Reynolds “Desperately” Wanted Jordan Peele To Show Up In The Film

When it comes to MCU films, it’s rare that Marvel Studios isn’t able to land someone they really want in the cast. Most of the time, the cast list for a Marvel film reads like a who’s-who in Hollywood. But despite the power of Marvel, Ryan Reynolds couldn’t land a co-star he “desperately” wanted in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

In a new interview with ScreenRant, Ryan Reynolds was busy promoting “Deadpool & Wolverine” when he was asked about his dream MCU team-up. And believe it or not, Reynolds was able to quickly name who he wants and he also explained why it didn’t happen in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

“I have one – he couldn’t do it, one of the first people that were offered a role we were trying to work with desperately was Jordan Peele,” said Reynolds. “But we are such enormous fans of his, everything he does, I think he’s just one of the great underrated performers as well. Obviously, he’s busy building a gigantic empire as a director and creator, but he’s somebody that I still, to this day, would love to find some way to team up with. I don’t even care what he would play, but I would love to work with him.”

Who would Jordan Peele play in an MCU film? That much remains unknown. But it’s clear Reynolds really wanted it to happen.

Of course, there’s still plenty of time to get Peele in a Marvel Studios film. And depending on how everything shakes out in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” perhaps Peele could show up in something down the line. We’ll just have to wait and see.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” debuts in theaters on July 26.
