‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trailer: Marvel’s Much-Anticipated Team-Up Finally Shows Its Claws

Deadpool & Wolverine” has been called one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and with an ailing box office in 2024 so far, perhaps it’s the movie the industry needs. But if there was a chief complaint about the “Deadpool & Wolverine” teaser revealed during the Superbowl, it’s that, well, it hid a lot and especially any real appearances by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine other than a brief silhouette and an over-the-shoulder shot of Logan getting pissed and seemingly stabbing Ryan Reynold’s Wade Wilson. And well, that’s mostly rectified in the new “Deadpool & Wolverine” that finally reveals Wolverine and Logan and his yellow-and-blue classic costume that Deadpool mocked as looking like the L.A. Rams uniform during the footage shown at CinemaCon earlier this month.

No official synopsis has been given for “Deadpool & Wolverine” yet, but clearly, from the teaser trailer in February, we know it’s a story of recovery. At the beginning of the last trailer, Wade Wilson is living a quiet life, is single, and has retired from superherodom, but things suddenly change. For reasons unknown, he is recruited by the Time Variance Authority (TVA)—the bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline, first seen in the “Loki” series—for a mission that will change the history of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Somewhere along the lines, Wolverine is enlisted into the proceedings, and the action, the f-bombs, and the mayhem begin from there.

Directed by Shawn Levy, “Deadpool & Wolverine” stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. Also appearing in the last trailer included Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Randal Reeder as Buck, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar and Aaron Stanford as John Allerdyce / Pyro from the “X-Men” series, teasing some of the many cameos to come.

Levy has said “Deadpool & Wolverine” is not a “Deadpool 3,” but instead a proper two-hander movie, so while it looks like a Deadpool movie so far, this new trailer definitely gives Wolverine his due.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is credited to five writers, including Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy. Producers on the film include

Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito and many more.

Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” opens in U.S. & Canadian movie theaters on July 26, and that’s the only theatrical Marvel movie of 2024. The movie will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere too. Watch the new trailer below.
