It has been a while since Leonardo DiCaprio acquired the rights to “Devil in the White City,” and though we were anxiously awaiting the announcement of a film, it looks like that will never come. Instead, DiCaprio is going to Hulu, and taking Martin Scorsese with him.
“Devil in the White City,” based on the book by Erik Larson, tells the story of an architect and a serial killer, both trying to leave their mark on the city, and the true events that changed their lives forever at the 1893 Chicago World Fair.
Originally, big plans were laid for the film, with DiCaprio bringing in Martin Scorsese to direct in 2015. DiCaprio burst into fame as a teen with his roles in “Titanic” and “Romeo+Juliet” and kept ahold of the limelight into adulthood with movies like “The Great Gatsby,” “Inception,” and “The Revenant” which finally won him an Oscar. Scorsese also has an impressive resume with “Taxi Driver,” “Goodfellas,” and has worked with DiCaprio before in “Wolf of Wall Street” and others. With such big names attached to ‘White City,’ we thought for sure we’d be in store for another movie blockbuster, but it looks like it’s not to be.
‘White City’ will be produced by Paramount Television, with an unknown air date on the streaming network Hulu.
