“Disclaimer” is a new Apple TV+ series that stars Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. And if that wasn’t enough, the entire series is written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón. For those who haven’t been following its development, “Disclaimer” tells the story of a famous journalist (Blanchett) who wakes up to find that her deepest, darkest secrets were written about in a new novel.
As mentioned, the series is written and directed by Cuarón, marking his first major attempt at making TV. And instead of treating the series like a series, he decided to make “Disclaimer” as if it was a really long film.
“In television, you go A, B, C, D. In film, you find a way to go from A to D directly,” he explained. “Here it was about experimenting with something different. I have never done something so overtly narrative.”
Cuarón added, “They were very generous when I said I could only do it as a film. In a TV show, you shoot five pages a day, and sometimes even more. I shoot one page a day. So the shoot was very, very long. We were shooting with pandemic restrictions and with actors getting COVID, meaning changes of schedule and domino effects happening.”
Even thought it was a long shoot, the show is officially coming to Apple TV+ this fall. “Disclaimer” debuts on October 11. You can see the first-look photos below:
