'Disclaimer' Trailer: Alfonso Cuarón Dives Into TV With A New Series Starring Cate Blanchett

Since cinemas are dominated by I.P.-driven films, people who are looking for prestige dramas and more adult fare are having to turn to TV. The same goes for filmmakers, as it grows more and more difficult to get financing for films. That’s why we have someone like Alfonso Cuarón diving headfirst into TV with his new project, “Disclaimer.”

As seen in the new trailer, “Disclaimer” tells the story of an acclaimed journalist who has worked hard in exposing other people for a good story. But things in her life get turned upside down when she receives a novel from an unknown author that features herself as the main character and exposes her own deep, dark secrets.

The cast includes Cate Blanchett, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kevin Kline, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, Hoyeon, and Indira Varma. As mentioned, the series is written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón.

Here’s the synopsis:

Acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets and threatens to destroy her family. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Baron Cohen) and son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).
