Got a Tip?

‘Andor,’ ‘Ms. Marvel’ & Live-Action ‘Pinocchio’ Movie Heading To Disney+ In Second Half Of 2022

Ahead of the big presentation at Disney+ Day this Friday, a new earnings webcast from Disney has revealed that a bunch of new content is heading to the growing streaming service by Fiscal Q4 of 2022 (which technically means July 2022 to September 2022). Projects mentioned by Disney CFO Christine McCarthy for that release window include Diego Luna‘s “Rogue One” prequel spy series “Andor,” the Iman Vellani-led Marvel Studios show “Ms. Marvel” that will likely lead directly into the “Captain Marvel” sequel “The Marvels,” and Robert Zemeckis‘ live-action “Pinocchio” movie starring the lovable Tom Hanks as Geppetto.

Disney+ Day will likely include much more information concerning these upcoming projects along with other stuff that has wrapped filming like high-profile franchise series such as “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Moon Knight,” “She-Hulk,” and the December-bound “Book of Boba Fett” that already got a fantastic teaser trailer not too long ago. We might also get some updates on things that haven’t started filming but will in the near future like “Ahsoka,” “The Acolyte,” “Armor Wars,” “Ironheart,” and the “Hawkeye” spinoff focused on the deaf Marvel Comics character, Echo.

There is a heap of projects in development at Marvel Studios that they’ve been holding back on revealing to the public.

Fans are likely expected to hear news on things beyond what has already been revealed last December at the Disney Investors Day presentation, which became one of the biggest information dumps we’ve seen from Disney in such a short amount of time. There are assumptions that we could learn more details about unannounced things from both the Marvel and “Star Wars” franchises, but to what extent they’ll be revealing film-wise is anyone’s guess.

Disney adding such expensive original programing to Disney+ is likely going to continue to help grow the service to be increasingly competitive against Netflix and we shouldn’t be shocked if more theatrical projects end up being funneled towards streaming.
