Over the weekend, new footage from FX‘s highly anticipated sci-fi horror series “Alien: Earth” in the form of a clip/teaser made its way online (via JoBlo). The spinoff series takes place years before the events of the original “Alien” as a doomed ship with a Xenomorph picking off crew members crash lands on Earth leading to a group looking to survey the accident.
This footage gives us some brief insight into the fate of the crew as one person, assumed to be an android, in the secure communications room reveals to “Mother” (the ship’s computer that has a direct link to the company and harkens back to the original film) that the crew has perished after the alien “specimens” have escaped, and they’re going to impact into the surface of Earth. While that is happening what looks to be one of the final crew members is being attacked by a full-grown Xeno outside the door, as she begs to be let in.
Showrunner/creator Noah Hawley (“Fargo”) is behind the new streaming show with a cast that features Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.
The show’s official synopsis from FX reads:
When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.
“Alien: Earth” isn’t the only project on the horizon from 20th Century‘s “Alien” and “Predator” franchises as a direct sequel to “Alien: Romulus” is in the works with Fede Álvarez (has teased interest in tackling a new “Alien Vs. Predator” crossover) returning, and Dan Trachtenberg (“Prey”) recently directed “Predator: Badlands” starring Elle Fanning which is set for release in theaters on November 7.
We’re still waiting for an official release date for “Alien: Earth” but is heading to Hulu and Disney+ this summer. Until then, you can watch the new footage below.
