The action movie legend and “The Expendables” star has signed up for a royalty-level role in “Aquaman.” The film, which will be led by Jason Momoa and directed by James Wan, will see Lundgren playing King Nereus of the aquatic kingdom of Xebel, which will probably mean more to comic-book fans than to me, who is still trying to wrap my brain around a superhero movie presumably set under water.

As I said, the talent all around this one is pretty good, with Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Temuera Morrison all signed up. Filming is set to begin next month, and “Aquaman” will make a splash at the multiplex on December 21, 2018. [THR]
