Another day, another buzzy project to hit the Cannes Market. Deadline reports that Adam Scott will have a package for his feature directorial debut for sale on the Croisette next month: “Double Booked,” a revenge thriller set to star Sterling K. BrownZazie Beetz, and Alexandria Daddario.  That’s a solid trio to frontline someone’s first film.

Scott also stars in the project, about two couples forced to spend the night together as a blizzard traps them in a secluded cabin. Scott and Beetz play a couple who organize a weekend getaway only to discover Brown and Daddario’s couple already at the cabin they booked when they arrive.  The close quarters soon prove to have deadly consequences; was this a mere system error or something more sinister?

David Levinson pens the script for “Double Booked,” his first since the similar 2018 house rental thriller “Welcome Home,” starring Aaron Paul and Emily Ratajkowsi.  Adam Goodman and Matt Skiena produce the film through Dichotomy Creative Group, with Scott and Naomi Scott producing through Great Scott Productions.  Protagonist Pictures will launch the film’s international sales at the Cannes Market, with UTA Independent Film Group and CAA handling the North American market.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Protagonist and Dichotomy to bring this audacious, crowd-pleasing, white-knuckle thriller to the screen,” Scott said in press statement. “I’d been looking for something to direct for years, and “Double Booked” checked all the boxes. Along with our unbelievable cast, I can’t wait to make it and share it with the world.”

Scott has directed before, albeit just TV: one episode of “Parks And Recreation” and four of “The Greatest Event In Television History.”  The actor currently stars in AppleTV+‘s workplace thriller “Severance,” which has nabbed him Emmy and Golden Globe nods. Other recent work for Scott includes “Madame Web,” “Big Little Lies,” and “Loot.”

As for Brown, the three-time Emmy winner recently starred in “American Fiction,” getting nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role.  He stars next in Hulu‘s miniseries “Washington Black” and the Netflix film “Atlas.”

Beetz’s recent work includes “Bullet Train,” Steven Soderbergh‘s Max limited series “Full Circle,” and “History Of The World, Part II.”  Up next for the actress?  “Joker: Folie á Deux,” reprising her role from Todd Phillips‘ 2019 film.

Daddario currently stars in AMC‘s “Mayfair Witches.”  Other recent work for the actress includes a main role in Season 1 of “The White Lotus,” “Wildflower,” and “The Girlfriend Experience.”

So is “Double Booked” a solid choice for Adam Scott’s feature directorial debut?  It’s a solid cast, at least.  Let’s see how the movie’s package performs at the Cannes Market next month.
