Though “Dune” has already debuted in international territories, Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic has yet to have its US debut, which is going to be the time that most people pay attention to the film. Not because the rest of the world is somehow less than the US, but because in the US, the film will be released both in theaters and on HBO Max, making its box office result something of interest for the entire film industry. So to help promote its release, WB has yet another trailer for “Dune” to whet the appetite of film fans.
If you’re not already sold on “Dune,” the new trailer isn’t going to do anything to prove you’re wrong. The film is clearly beautiful, but that much is to be expected from Villeneuve. There’s the incredible cast, but again, we already knew this. Instead, the final trailer goes a long way in explaining the overall story that folks will experience in “Part One” of a two-part series (if the second part actually gets made).
“Dune” is about a young man, Paul, and his royal family that take control of the desert planet, Arrakis, aka Dune. And with that, they take control of the universe’s most sought-after resource, spice melange. So, as you might expect, Paul and his family are at the center of a conflict that has raged for generations, forcing the young man to adapt to his new surroundings and maybe, just maybe fulfill an ancient prophecy.
The all-star cast for “Dune” includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Chang Chen, David Dastmalchian, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Mamoa, and Javier Bardem. As mentioned, the film is directed by Denis Villeneuve.
“Dune” will arrive in theaters and HBO Max on October 22. You can watch the trailer below.
