Got a Tip?

‘Dune: Part Two’: Anya Taylor-Joy Confirms Role In Denis Villeneuve’s Sequel

What’s this: another young star is part of the cast of Denis Villeneuve‘s sequel “Dune: Part Two“? Yes, indeed. Variety reports that Anya Taylor-Joy joined the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Austin Butler for the upcoming blockbuster’s world premiere in London today, confirming that she has a role in the film. That news should shock no one who’s kept up with movie rumors the past week. Taylor-Joy’s name popped up on the credits for “Dune: Part Two” on Letterboxd, with screenshots quickly going viral. The credit was quickly removed, but rumors swirled that the actress was in the film.

And now that rumors have been confirmed with Taylor-Joy showing up on the premiere’s red carpet. But while fans of Frank Herbert‘s “Dune” books will easily deduce who the actress plays in the sequel, The Playlist won’t spoil it now. But, should a “Dune Messiah” film happen, Taylor-Joy will have a major role in that film. And if “Children Of Dune” somehow gets greenlit, Taylor-Joy would take center-stage. But let’s neither speculate or give away too much…

With the addition of “Dune: Part Two” to her calendar, Taylor-Joy has a huge 2024 awaiting her. She stars in another upcoming blockbuster, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” which hits theaters on May 24. The “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel sees the actress take on the role of Charlize Theron‘s female war captain from the 2015 film as a younger version of the character comes of age in a ravaged post-apocalyptic world. No word on when “Furiosa” will have its world premiere, but don’t be surprised if George Miller unveils it at Cannes shortly before its theatrical release.

With Anya Taylor-Joy joining the ranks, “Dune: Part Two” has one of the most formidable ensemble casts in recent memory. She joins other newcomers Butler, Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, and Christopher Walken in the cast. Chalamet and Zendaya lead returning cast members, which also include Rebecca Ferguson, John Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

“Dune: Part Two” hits theaters on March 1. Stay tuned for early reactions to the film after its world premiere today.
