‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ Trailer: Chris Pine & Regé-Jean Page Lead A New Fantasy Adventure [Comic-Con]

The fantasy genre fans couldn’t be in a better place. There’s an upcoming return to Middle-Earth coming thanks to Amazon’s expensive “Lord of The Rings” series, and HBO’s mature “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of The Dragon” finally arrives this summer. And even “Stranger Things” also has a role in this as they helped reintroduce and popularize the pen-and-paper game “Dungeons & Dragons” to a brand new generation of kids and has led to an interest in a brand new feature film.

Paramount is promoting their new film, “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” at San Diego Comic-Con, which has an exciting cast led by “Star Trek” and “Wonder Woman” star Chris Pine. Today, the studio shared new details, a poster, first looks, and the first trailer of the upcoming fantasy adventure film.

Unlike “Game of Thrones” and “Lord of The Rings,” the Hasbro/eOne property allows a “dungeon master” to craft the adventure and threats as various players create their own characters, essentially a blank slate. This allows for much more wiggle-room for screenwriters to have much more freedom than other fantasy franchises. Also, it could mean this is an adaptation where new viewers don’t really have to do their homework about the fantasy world and can just jump in feet first.

Game Night” directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are behind the film and helping co-write the script with Michael Gilio. The story comes from Gilio and former director Chris McKay (“The Tomorrow War,” “Renfield”).

Joining Pine among the cast are Michelle Rodriguez (“Avatar,” “Fast & Furious” franchise), Justice Smith (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” “Detective Pikachu”), Regé-Jean Page (“The Gray Man,” “Bridgerton”), Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Jason Wong, Daisy Head, and veteran actor Hugh Grant as the film’s villain.

The studio hopes that global audiences come along for this quest as they attempt to launch a new film franchise; we’ll know for sure when “Honor Among Thieves” hits theaters on March 3, 2023. Watch the new trailer below, which debuted at Comic-Con 2023 today.
