Got a Tip?

Mads Mikkelsen & Writer/Director Bryan Fuller Reunite For Monster Under The Bed Movie ‘Dust Bunny’

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (“Another Round”) has been moving between arthouse films, acclaimed dramatic performances, and more sizable blockbuster fair, recently seen in “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” (replacing Johnny Depp as the main villain Gellert Grindelwald). He also has a key role in Lucasfilm’s upcoming “Indiana Jones 5” from director James Mangold (“Logan,” “Ford V. Ferarri”). And now, he’s lined up another exciting genre film with a familiar face.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Mikkelsen will reunite with Bryan Fuller on a new film he’ll write and direct. That project titled “Dust Bunny” will reunite the actor and director following their collaboration on the “Silence of The Lambs” prequel series “Hannibal,” which explored the events before and after the novel “Red Dragon.”

“Dust Bunny” focuses on an “eight-year-old girl who enlists the help of her intriguing neighbor to help her kill the monster under her bed.” The young girl believes this monster has eaten her family, which might skew a little more mature than the logline suggests. We’ll have to wait to learn who plays that young girl as an actress wasn’t revealed yet.

Entertainment One and Thunder Road will co-produce the pic. Joining Fuller on the film’s producing team includes Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee. The duo has been previously behind the “John Wick” movies and spinoffs.

Fuller was behind the aforementioned “Hannibal,” “American Gods,” the sci-fi adventure streaming series “Star Trek: Discovery,” and was recently announced as the brain-child behind a new prequel series at Peacock set in the “Friday The 13th franchise that is titled “Crystal Lake.”

Cameras are said to begin rolling as early as January as global sales handled by Sierra/Affinity will go out to buyers in the American Film Market.
