Got a Tip?

Eli Roth To Produce Two Horror Films ‘Clown’ & ‘Aftershock’

How do you make it to Hollywood? Apparently, all you have to do is produce a fake movie trailer that barely becomes an Internet meme and put Eli Roth‘s name on it.

Roth is set to produce and oversee two upcoming flicks, “Clown” and “Aftershock.” The former is based on a very mildly amusing short created by music video and commercial directors Jon Watts and Christopher D. Ford that is a fake Eli Roth movie trailer about a father who goes mad after donning a clown suit. The film version, which will be directed by Watts and written by Ford, will expand on the thin concept by placing a curse on the costume that must be broken. This one is already on the fast track for an early 2011 shoot.

A bit more promising is “Aftershock,” a high-octane horror-thriller set during the aftermath of the February 27, 2010 Chilean earthquake that claimed more than 480 lives and registered an 8.8 on the Richter scale. Details are being guarded but the script will be written by Roth alongside Latin-American filmmakers Nicolás López and Guillermo Amoedo, and they will be aiming for something along the lines of the intensity of “[Rec].” As a clue as to what we might expect, Roth says, “When Nicolas described to me the terror of hours following the Chilean earthquake, we knew we had found the perfect setting for our story. No phones, no electricity, no police…no chance. All the elements you need for a terrifying story are literally right there under the surface.”

López recently directed the Chilean box office hit “Fuck My Life” (“Que Pena Tu Vida”). You check out the viral for “Clown” and the trailer for “Fuck My Life” below.
