Got a Tip?

Elliot Takes Center Stage In 2 New Clips From David Lowery’s Disney Remake ‘Pete’s Dragon’

In the recent trailer for “Pete’s Dragon,” audiences have seen brief glimpses of Elliot, but for the most part, Disney has kept most of the dragon action to a minimum leading up to the film’s release. In one of the two new clips released by the studio, the spotlight is on the loveable green beast, and it’s clear Disney has spent a great amount of time and effort making the massive, hairy dragon come to life.

The studio is hoping “Pete’s Dragon” can capitalize on the success of “The Jungle Book” and score big at the box office. Like “The Jungle Book,” “Pete’s Dragon” combines CGI with live-action to tell the story of a young boy living in the woods who has befriended a large, invisible, friendly dragon. The film is a reimagining of the 1977 classic of the same name, but drops the musical element.

“Pete’s Dragon” is co-written and directed by David Lowery, who previously directed “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints.” The movie stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Robert Redford, and the young Oakes Fegley as Pete.

“Pete’s Dragon” will be released on August 12th.
