'Emilia Perez' Teaser: Jacques Audiard's Acclaimed Cannes Film Arrives In November

Ever since it’s world premiere at this year’s Cannes, there has been a lot of buzz about the upcoming movie “Emilia Perez.” And thankfully, we’re only a few months away from seeing it for ourselves. 

As seen in the new teaser for the film, “Emilia Perez” tells the story of several women trying to pursue their own version of happiness in Mexico. The film stars Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, and Edgar Ramírez. “Emilia Perez” is written and directed by acclaimed French filmmaker, Jacques Audiard. The filmmaker is probably best known for films such as “A Prophet,” “Rust & Bone,” and “The Sisters Brothers.”

We saw “Emilia Perez” at Cannes, and in our review, we said, “When ‘Emilia’ shines it’s often because of the collaboration between Audiard and cinematographer Paul Guilhaume. The pair fashion several truly exhilarating moments during some but decidedly not all of the musical sequences.”

“Emilia Perez” debuts in theaters on November 1 before hitting Netflix on November 13. You can watch the new teaser below.

Here’s the synopsis:

From renegade auteur Jacques Audiard comes Emilia Pérez, an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations. Through liberating song and dance and bold visuals, this odyssey follows the journey of four remarkable women in Mexico, each pursuing their own happiness. The fearsome cartel leader Emilia (Karla Sofía Gascón) enlists Rita (Zoe Saldaña), an unappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, to help fake her death so that Emilia can finally live authentically as her true self.
