No, we’re not ready to recast James Bond yet. Daniel Craig hasn’t even begun filming his last outing as the character in the upcoming “Bond 25.” But yet, we still can’t seem to escape all the chatter about who should or shouldn’t play the suave superspy. The latest person to chime in on the debate is none other than Eva Green, a former Bond Girl. And while she doesn’t have any ideas on who should replace Craig, she knows that whoever it is definitely should have a penis.

“I’m for women, but I really think James Bond should remain a man. It doesn’t make sense for him to be a woman,” said Green (via Vanity Fair). “Women can play different types of characters, be in action movies and be superheroes, but James Bond should always be a man and not be Jane Bond. There is history with the character that should continue. He should be played by a man.”
Green seems to echo many who feel that one of the things intrinsic to the character of James Bond is his sexuality. And no, not just that he’s into sex, as there are plenty of women that would fit that bill, as well, but it’s the idea that he’s this macho, debonair ladies man that many believe can only come from a male point of view.
She’s not alone in this assertion either. Rachel Weisz (wife of Daniel Craig) agrees with this notion, as does Rosamund Pike and the woman in charge of the entire Bond franchise Barbara Broccoli. So, at this point, it would appear that Green won’t have to worry about a “Jane Bond” anytime soon.

That being said, Green is happy with the way the evolution of the Bond Girl has occurred over the decades, as she was one herself in “Casino Royale.”
“I love the fact that the Bond girls have evolved,” said Green. “I originally had reservations about being a Bond girl. I didn’t want to be a bimbo. The women are now perceived differently. They are intelligent and sassy and fascinating. I loved playing Vesper. She’s the only one to get to Bond’s heart and has a big impact on his life.”

The actress also plants her flag in the debate over who is the best Bond. And unsurprisingly, considering who she starred opposite, she chooses the most recent man in the tuxedo.
“[Daniel Craig’s] made James Bond human,” she said. “We see him flawed and vulnerable. He’s the best James Bond we have seen.”
