It’s crowning achievement almost inevitable for weeks, “Everything Everywhere All At Once” was named Best Picture at the 95th Academy Awards. Directed, written and produced by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who also twon Oscars earlier in the telecast, the film also makes history as A24 Films second Best Picture winner in just 12 years. James Wong was also a central producer on the film.

Overalll, the multiverse dramedy earned 11 Academy Award nominations overall and took home six Oscars including Best Picture, Directing, Original Screenplay, Editing (Paul Rogers), Supporting Actor (Key Huy Quan) and a historic Best Actress win for Michelle Yeoh. The film also won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directing – Feature Film, the PGA Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance of a Cast in A Motion Picture. “Everything Everywhere” also won a record seven Independent Spirit Awards including Best Feature and the Gotham Award for Best Feature. “Everything Everywhere” also became the first film to premiere at the SXSW Film Festival to not only be nominated for Best Picture, but to win the top prize. It follows the Sundance Film Festival landing its first Best Picture winner last year with “CODA.”
Released initially in just 10 theater on March 25, 2022, the critically acclaimed film ended up becoming A24’s highest grossing domestic release earning $73.4 million and a total of $106 million globally.
Over the course of its short history, A24 has released five Best Picture nominees: “Room,” “Moonlight,” “Lady Bird,” “Minari” and “Everything Everywhere All At Once.” The other winner was Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight” in 2017.
