Getting a film out in the world is a tough business, but for writer/director Mark Nistico, the effort behind his feature debut "Blue Collar Boys" has paid off with some recognition. Traveling the festival circuit, the movie earned Best Picture (Micro Budget) at the Toronto Independent Film Festival, as well as Best Screenplay at the Hoboken Film Festival. And while it won't be getting a nationwide release, it may be one to pay attention to if it screens near you.
Starring Gabe Fazio (who co-stars opposite Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper in the upcoming "The Place Beyond The Pines"), Kevin Interdonato and Bruce Kirkpatrick, the story centers on Red, a 27-year-old construction worker must take over his father's business in order to save his family. With foreclosure threatening the family home, Red teams up with his friends to set things right the only way they know how. In the exclusive clip from the film below, after Red learns his father has been screwed out of money from a contracter, he takes things into his own hands after negotiations for payment fall through.
Leomark Studios are distributing "Blue Collar Boys," which will begin rolling out in limited release on September 7th at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse, New York. From there it will play the Laemmle NoHo 7 in North Hollywood, California from Sept. 14-20 and will screen on Saturday, Oct. 27th at the Bijou Art Cinema in Eugene, Oregon.
